Coventry Station Masterplan

Millions of travellers use transport facilities Direct Access has audited for accessibility every day, and we are proud to place Coventry Station among them, building on the Coventry Station Masterplan set out by Coventry City Council.

Direct Access worked with Avanti, Coventry Council, and Network Rail to deliver this project. Reviewing architectural plans, we installed Changing Places facilities, tactile paving (in accordance with the Government’s recently updated tactile paving guidance), and unambiguous and appropriate signage to help disabled people navigate the station.

The Coventry Station Masterplan project has been developed to deliver new infrastructure alongside the Grade II listed existing railway station. Our work with Coventry Council delivers on the plan to introduce:

A transport interchange connected directly to the station building via a new access tunnel under Warwick Road, creating better integration with bus services for passengers.

A second station entrance building, with entry points from Station Square and Warwick Road alongside the new access tunnel via the transport interchange under Warwick Road, provides step-free access to platforms.

Our work with Coventry station ties in with one of several projects we are involved in that aims to restore access and improve interpretation across Coventry, which also includes our work with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to improve accessibility for the 10-mile stretch of the Sherbourne River that flows through Coventry.
