Direct Access has been hired to help guide the group to meeting their obligatory accessibility requirements under the Equality Act 2010, with a specific focus on helping better the teaching environment for disabled children with special or specific educational needs.
TAKT will be promoting the services of Direct Access to their schools in an effort to increase awareness of the needs of disabled children. This month, we will begin audits, headed by our Education Access Consultant Sophie. Sophie joined Direct Access in 2021, holding Qualified Teacher Status, and has worked in many educational settings, from Private Nurseries to General Primary Schools across Merseyside, the Wirral, Sefton, and Cheshire.
Direct Access have also been choice consultants for several municipalities responsible for education provision including Hertfordshire County, London Borough of Lewisham, London Borough of Brent, North Northamptonshire Council, Leicestershire, and Lancashire County. Our founder and director has also worked closely with Cambridge Assessment and the Cambridge Printing Press.
Our education services range from access consultation on the design of new schools and classrooms to auditing of existing premises and project managing adaptations for a new pupil with specific access needs to writing school accessibility plans.
